Culture

The Conservative Party believes that we are the custodians of our collective heritage and that we must ensure that our inherited knowledge, culture and faith are passed down to younger generations in an improved state compared to how we found it; which is why our party is dedicated to funding the arts, making sure that all of our citizens have access to after-school clubs, museums and libraries, and ensuring that today's youth remain healthy in both body and soul.
Secularisation
The Conservative Party has fiercely opposed the secularisation of the United KIngdom and will continue to do so. The Church of England holds significant historical and cultural value in the United Kingdom and to sever ties with the church, despite popular support favouring the United Kingdom remaining a christian country, would be unwise.
Monarchy
Because of our firm belief in maintaining stability as well as the benefits of an unelected Head of State, we would oppose any attempt to dispose of the Monarchy. The Conservative party will block any referendum attempt. The Monarchy is yet another institution which holds significant cultural and historical value and any attempt to get rid off it will be blocked by the Conservative Party.
Theatre Tax Breaks
We will aim to phase out theatre subsidies, and instead replace them with tax breaks. National museums will remain free, yet we will look at making them more cost effective for the taxpayer, whilst not detracting from the museum itself.
Upholding British Values
We acknowledge that left wing government have slowly tried to erode British values and culture. To combat this erosion of our British values we will do our utmost to uphold traditional British values and culture and will emphasise the teaching of British values in schools.
Funding Sporting Events
We will fund sport in youth, make PE in schools more competitive and open the UK up to new markets of professional sports, negotiating to host more successful international sporting events such as the Rugby World Cup, as well as having more one-off fixtures played here such as the popular NFL games, boosting local economies
The BBC
We remain committed to the BBC being a publicly funded institution. It has enriched the culture of the United Kingdom and thus we will support its continued existence.
